As I've mentioned before, the car GPS shows all the destinations in Japanese, so having the Japanese name on paper confirms at least visually the car GPS destination that you have set.
Sometimes, you may also have to ask the locals, just in case, so it's easier for them to read it.
How to derive the Japanese name ?
If it's a popular attraction or restaurant, you could probably see it on Tripadvisor.
1. Let me show you an example of an attraction Mt Ishizuchi on Tripadvisor. Notice the flag depicting your country right beside the currency on the top right of the page.
2. Click on the little down arrow just beside the flag. Copy and paste the name of the attraction :
3. Click the flag representing Japan and you will the page in Japanese.
