Understanding what a Roadside Station is
A Roadside Station is simply a government designated driving rest area along
roads and expressways in Japan. They are also intended to promote local
products available in the locality, for example, vegetables, fruits,
seafood, tea, biscuits, honey, etc... Some Roadside Stations are big,
and could include also a TIC (Tourist Information Centre) or restaurant
or other shops or food outlets.
This is the symbol of a Roadside Station and the Japanese words are 道の駅.
The main website is located at http://www.michi-no-eki.jp. It's in Japanese and in English, but of course most of the websites hosting the Roadside Station themselves are in Japanese.
Don't forget to get a map of all the Roadside Stations of Shikoku at any Roadside Station.
